Te Wei, an artist famous for blending Chinese painting into animations, has produced countless award-winning animations in his career since 1950s. The present collection compiles 4 titles by him, all adapted from famous Chinese fairy tales or fables. Some of his works, such as A Tadpole Looking for Mom (1960) and Love for Mountain and Water (1988), have won awards locally and overseas, from the prestigious Hundred Flowers Awards in China to even the Cannes Film Festival. Te Wei's art demonstrates a very different aesthetics from Western animations, which are characterized by their refined lines and elaboration patterns. On the other hand, he sometimes borrows from famous Chinese painting in portraying his characters.
