A documentary film based on the works of the Armenian mystic and lyric poet, monk and theologian Grigor Narekatsi (c. 950 - 1003/1011). A thousand years ago, in ancient Armenia, St. Gregory of Narekatsi wrote a book of prayerful contemplation, which to this day is the deepest revelation of the spiritual world of man in search of the meaning of life. The protagonist of the film is a modern person living in the modern world. A world in which the fundamental question of the meaning of life is not relevant.

In a fairytale kingdom, in a small hut on a marsh, lives a ginger-haired witch Yaga along with her inventor cat and merry house elves. Yaga is trying to get better at magic, but in order to cast spells like a pro she needs her Book of Spells, stolen many years ago by the evil sorceress Belladonna. One day, an unexpected visit from Princess Sapphire offers Yaga a chance to get even with her sworn enemy. The outcome will prove the true power of genuine magic, and decide who the real villain is.

«The Return of the Prodigal Son» is the first volume from the film (novel) of Anatoli Vassiliev’s «Empire» inside the Dau cycle. A beautiful and kind girl, daughter of Baba Yaga, finds a magical stone Alatyr while walking in a field. It transforms her heart into a stone and puts her under a queer curse. She is to be the evil Countess of Stones and live in a stone tower. If the greatest gem-cutter in the world brings the stone of Alatyr to life, though, she'll become the ruler of the world. The Stone Countess, now cruel and selfish, is fascinated with the idea. She starts searching for the best gem-cutters and forces them to work with Alatyr, so the magical stone would become a living thing. Neither of the gem-cutters succeeds, so she kills them. While being imprisoned in her tower, they work on a large book about the secrets of gem-cutting. Each of them edits the book, so it's later named "the Book of Masters".

The search for the Secret Book of the Bogomils brings Guy Chevalier (Thierry Fremont) to Macedonia. There, he is haunted by the spirit of the Gardian of the book and followed by unknown forces. Little by little, he starts loosing his mind and his identity.

Almost a third of everyone's life is spent in a dream, but this state of "life" is poorly understood. What if consciousness is not asleep? What if everyone is the creator of their own universe, but does not remember about it?.. A number of experiments on the study of sleep were conducted in order to fix the connection between the consciousness of the sleeper and the physiological reaction of the body. Where does consciousness go every night and how does it come in the morning? In the film, the viewer is waiting for interviews with people who are professionally engaged in the study of dreams, the issues of the relationship of religions to dreams, archetypes of interpretation of dreams (the language of the unconscious) and working with them as a way of studying personality are touched upon. The mechanisms of "awareness" of oneself in a dream are considered.

Yulia is a worker in a cafe. She watches how an ordinary visitor sits at the table, but this time he is upset. Children run to the cafe, go to the main character, she gives them candy for good entries in the diary. After a while, a mysterious visitor appears and gives her the "Book of Complaints and Suggestions" and says that what she writes there will come true. She accepts the gift with disbelief.
