My girlfriend MaryV and I don’t believe in small talk. Time is fragile and sacred — why waste it on talking just to talk? This film is simply transparent love and honesty. The questions address the dominant emotional topics in our lives at 19 years old, such as love, how my deafness affects our relationship, and growing old.
In I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby, Broderick Crawford plays a sentimental gangster who abducts songwriter Johnny Downs and forces him to write a love ballad. It is Crawford's hope that the song will reach out and touch his long-lost childhood sweetheart. I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby was based on James Edward Grant's short story Trouble in B Flat; echoes of the basic premise later resurfaced in the 1957 "A" picture The Girl Can't Help It.

The film is inspired by the terella—a small magnetized model ball representing the Earth, used by scientists since the late sixteenth century. Three centuries later, in the year of the birth of cinema, Norwegian physicist Kristian Birkeland used the terella to study the aurora borealis, while in the 1930s, Bertolt Brecht wrote in exile: “In the dark times / Will there also be singing? Yes, there will also be singing / About the dark times.” Resembling a terella, the dark planet depicted on the screen is surrounded by pulsating light, invoking both hope and despair.

YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I BEEN THROUGH is a hybrid, experimental documentary short film loosely based on the short story Jack-O by James Franco (part of the collection of short stories entitled Palo Alto). It is told through stream-of-consciousness storytelling (inspired by filmmakers like Joel Potrkyus + Matt Johnson) with no real rhyme or reason. It's all over the place. But that's kinda the point. It is told with a millennial eye, but somehow universal. "A thing that we lack as humans is showing how vulnerable we are. Everybody's so afraid of people finding the demons under their bed. And it's like, 'Just show it. Turn it into something beautiful.'" - Noelia Towers.
