After a tense argument with her editor boyfriend Bai Lin, Jiang Zhi falls into a coma and enters the world of her comic as the heroine You Mao. In this dream-like adventure filled with fantasy, time travel, and suspense, Jiang Zhi embarks on a journey of discovery that leads her to a deeper understanding of her comic.

The show's main protagonist is the 5-year-old title character Chico-chan. An actor wears a costume with an oversize head to portray her, while the broadcasts show her face in 3D computer graphics, which allows for a variety of outrageous expressions and effects. Accompanied by comedian Takashi Okamura, the show features Chico-chan asking Okamura and others simple questions, such as "Why do people wave their hands when they say goodbye?" If they cannot answer properly, she spits out her sarcastic signature phrase, "Botto ikiten ja ne-yo!" (Don't sleep through life!) Yuichi Kimura provides the voice of Chico-chan.

Then Came You is a half-hour sitcom that aired on ABC for two months from March 22, 2000 to April 26, 2000. The show dealt with the romantic relationship between a young man and an older woman. It starred Susan Floyd, Thomas Newton, and Desmond Askew. This was not the first time ABC greenlighted a sitcom with this title; Then Came You was also the proposed title for the show that ultimately became the 1980s sitcom Webster. The title of the short-lived ABC TV series was taken from The Spinners 1974 song of the same name.
