Luisa Braniff who after many years of hard work, obtains the success she has always wished for: to be the General Director of one of the most important technological companies in Mexico. But fate has prepared another surprise to this attractive exectutive. Gaalibeeja is a debut film made by an artist and is an homage to the genre of the Road Movie and seminal filmmakers like Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch and Abbas Kiarostami. It opens with Prakash, a road engineer, leaving for a site visit to an unnamed village. On the way he gives a lift to Jaffer, someone who previously sold pirated dvds, and receives a set of road movies from him. The sequences in the films and the people that Prakash meets in life begin to resonate with each other. Jaffer’s pronouncement that Prakash’s life could be a film comes back to him as he witnesses each person starring in their own road movie. The road carries us, connects us, it equally disrupts lives. The film explores this ambivalence and the different temporalities people inhabit.

In a small village in Lahat, South Sumatra, an 18-year-old boy named Dapunta (Qausar Harta Yudana) is almost ready to graduate from senior high school; he is known as the Wind Chaser locally because of his running capabilities. He and his mother Dakunta (Wanda Hamidah) want him to go to university, but his father – the leader of a gang of bandits – refuses to allow it. Dapunta decides to go to university no matter what. His crush Nyimas (Siti Helda) and teacher Damar (Lukman Sardi) help him, motivating him to practice his running so that he can use athletics to enter the university of his choice. However, his classmate Yusuf (Giorgino Abraham) – who has similar running abilities – is also training; he sabotages some of Dapunta's practice sessions. Meanwhile, the headmaster attempts to limit Dapunta's training out of spite for his father.

A lyrical and funny story about the hard life of a village on the coast suffering from the high winds.
