Young people of all generations had their reasons for rebellion, their ways of resisting, and the authorities who resisted them. Were they more daring punks or hippies, was it more dangerous to half-dry Western Jazz or loud rock? Are today's young people rebellious?
Jordan 1970: Like a political tract, the film exalts the Palestinian revolution through the role of the combattants, women, workers and children. Revolutionary songs and poems punctuate the people's struggle for liberation. This film defends a cause that was very little supported at that time. 'Biladi, une révolution' is one of the very first (if not the first) films on the issue.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked the beginning of a new era, sending shockwaves across the world and overturning political thought. Through the voices of Lenin and Gorky, discover the two faces of the Revolution: the theory and the practice. Let us return to this mixture of exaltation and nervousness that propelled the Revolution's actors. Retrace their steps by using their own words, their outlook. This dual narrative will give a rich perspective: one abrupt, unpredictable, moving– will be Maxim Gorky. The other – as cold as history and tactics, the planning of the next move – will follow Vladimir Illyich Lenin. Both the writer and the revolutionary are haunted by the failure of the last great European revolution, the Paris Commune, 1871. Through exclusive archives and beautiful animation, Stan Neumann will immerse us into the day by day events, from February to October 1917.
The story of a revolution in a Caribbean insular state.
The history of the revolution - but which one?
Ten years after the first riots the media no longer speak of the Greek crisis. Everything suggests that the austerity cure has succeeded and that calm has returned. This film proves the opposite. In Thessaloniki young people prevent auctions of foreclosed homes. In Crete peasants oppose the construction of a new airport. In Athens a mysterious group worries the power by multiplying the sabotages. In the neighborhood of Exarcheia threatened with evacuation the heart of the resistance welcomes the refugees in self-management. A trip to music among those who dream of love and revolution.
It was not a ship, Raphael was a city floating on water, a strange and shameful city, where did he come from? Raphael is a very beautiful ship that was bought from Italy in the 50s. Many Italians were sorry for selling it to Iran and were exposed to selling this cultural heritage of theirs. Raphael experienced the revolution and then the war. Where is Raphael now?

A sly investigation of language and its links to cultural identity, Érik Bullot’s documentary looks at the repercussions of Turkey’s rapid removal of the Ottoman Turkish alphabet in 1928.
Director Francois Levy-Kuentz's film uses previously unreleased archival material, such as Klein's personal films, to capture the artist's astonishing career, from its beginning in 1954 to his death in 1962. In those eight short years, Klein turned the modern art world upside down.
Throughout his life, he has been active on four continents, fighting against three regimes. Some say he was ""Don Quixote, who dreams the impossible dreams;"" others say he was ""Che GUEVARA, the only remaining active revolutionary in East Asia."" However, the leader he privately admires is Arafat. His whole life was on the run. Now 97 years old, blind in one eye, figure stooped, he is still combating vigorously, his legend continues...
A comical saga about the French Revolution, as seen by an Englishman, to music by Offenbach. The film's script was selected as part of the Revolution contest organised in 1987 by the CNC, the INA, Canal+ and the Annecy Festival.
I know these were glasnost days, but still, I'm a little surprised filmmakers were out there doing stuff like this. There's nothing overtly anti-communist in this piece, but it ain't what you'd call respectful, 'neither. The brothers Aleinikov lay turgid governmental speeches about "the rearing of a new man" under footage of dudes goofing around in space-alien costumes, they roll footage of apple-cheeked future Stakhanovites upside down and backwards, they crudely animate -- in a certain South Parkian way -- CCCP icons in a goofy manner. Good, clean fun. (written by Colin Marshall)
In 1978, just after Le fond de l'Air Est Rouge, which mercilessly analyzed the previous ten years of the revolutionary left's momentum until its collapse, Chris Marker made this complementary piece entitled Quand le Siècle a Pris Forme (Guerre et Révolution).
The royal summary court sentences Sallai Imre and Fürst Sándor to death on charges of attempting to uproot the state and the social order. The film, the story of which takes place in 1932, enlarges the moment of delivering the death-sentence. Sallai, preparing for his death, envisions the people and the events that have been decisive for his life.
