Inspired by the Cadeby Main pit disaster, this is former miner and amateur director Charles Hanmer's innovative and audaciously ambitious feature debut. It's the tale of brassy Yorkshireman John Morgan's (played by Dewsbury's Beckett Bould) quest to convince an MP to finance a film about pit life. Threading stories about safety and technology with sketches of miners' hobbies, it's a holistic portrait of Barnsley pitmen.

The famed Hollywood Boulevard Snake Man's main motive in life is to make people laugh, and he feels he is blessed to do so with his companion Butterfly.

Black Hole is about being paralyzed in life and the courage and strength it takes to break free. Paul is offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to work as an intern for the United Nations. Plagued by his mothers terminal illness he abandons his dream to relocate to New York and instead continues to take care of her during this difficult time. The inevitability of his mothers condition causes Paul to increasingly lose the ability to go his own way. Feelings of guilt, despair and fear dominate his decisions. Powerless to detach himself from his mother he almost sacrifices his long term relationship with his girlfriend Sarah. Eventually, through an unsparing confrontation with Sarah and a profound spiritual experience Paul can break free and regains his ability to live.

Chronicles the history of blacks in Des Moines, Iowa from the mid-1800s to the present. Vintage photos and film clips are used with interviews to detail the contributions of blacks from their first appearance via the Pre-Civil War "underground railroad" to the emotional issues of today. Includes early photos of black businesses and neighborhoods, the beginnings of the Iowa Bystander newspaper, first-hand recollections of the 1920s and 1930s, disruption caused by the freeway construction and urban renewal, and the many innovations and achievements made by Des Moines blacks. Originally aired on WOI-TV on September 10, 1985.

Marijuana grows well in the Appalachian mountains — so well that in many parts of the region it has replaced tobacco as the number one cash crop. Bluegrass, Blackmarket investigates the underground economy that has developed around marijuana cultivation in an economically depressed area of Eastern Kentucky and the official corruption that has accompanied it through the voices of participants on all sides of the issue. Woven throughout the documentary is the story of a large-scale FBI sting operation that led to the arrest of four local sheriffs on drug trafficking charges, making an excellent case study of the consequences of illegal economic activity and the difficulty of eliminating this country’s “drug problem” in places where people have few viable economic opportunities.

The film was shot on the heights of Le Havre, in the gardens of the Abbey of Graville where is a monumental Virgin and Child, known as the Vierge Noire. When I was a child, the imposing statue inspired me a certain fear when I walked through the gardens to reach the Star, the local cinema. It may be this strange relationship between the Vierge Noire and my movie memories which led me to compose the soundtrack from an extract of Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound. This is the sequence when Dr. Edwardes (Gregory Peck) tells his dream : " I ​​can not make up just what sort of a site it was..." It is this atmosphere full of disquiet and mystery that I wanted to give to my film.
