Traveler

In my film works the main focus is on impermanence, transience, and ideas of change, shifts and “repositioning”. Landscape and architecture that appear to be solid and permanent is experienced unstable and disorienting. In travelling fields I am particularly interested in the idea of geography and how it can be examined and visually reworked in the dimension of altered time and filmic space.
In this work I continue to work with shifts in perspective and working with the specific qualities it produces in the image. These qualities are results of certain ways of framing and the parallax movements produced by the travelling camera. It includes architectural elements and different ground surfaces in the Murmansk region, Kola Peninsula, Russia.


After being rushed to a flight by her mother at the airport, a young girl loses her most prized possession, a plush toy named Daru. Awakened by the girl's tears, Daru sets forth on a grand adventure to find her, crossing continents, communicating with animals and statues alike, and even making a new caterpillar friend along the way. As time passes, will Daru ever be reunited with his beloved owner?

Three Men Travelling is billed as a loosely related sequel to Tri chlapi v chalupe (1963), sending our country protagonists set out from their family nests in the village of Ouplavice into the big wide world. Grandpa Potucek, (Lubomír Lipský) and his son Václav (Jan Skopecek) take part in the cooperative's excursion to spa town Karlovy Vary, a Pilsen brewery and some agricultural enterprises in western Bohemia. During the course of a series of misunderstandings and merrymaking, grandfather Potucek decides he will not let problems with sick calves unsettle him, and that he will persevere in his role as the leader of the cooperative.

"Travelling Through Brush and Ink" is a stop-motion animation of a little modern man traveling through four significant ancient Chinese paintings, transforming himself into animals and plants, and becomes part of the nature. Each painting represents four important stages of landscape art in Chinese history. Based on the original paintings, we built the sets and animated little character inside- all frame by frame. The animation is the opening film of 2016 annual exhibition National Palace Museum Taiwan.

The Ladies’ Union of Drama – House of Open Hospitality implements the educational project “Mobile School Travels.” Through a wheeled, mobile facility, it tries to reach Roma children who live and work on the streets in the prefectures of Drama, Kavala, and Xanthi in Northern Greece, aiming at fighting dropout and illiteracy. The Roma children who access it learn to write, read, and draw, among numerous activities.
