Rock stars do their bit for a good cause with this festive single from 1983.
Lemons are being passed around. Their juice relieves the burning in the mouth and nose. It is April 17, 2011, the last day of public revolt before the suppression of the Iraqi Spring. Amid the protesting crowd, breathing the air laced with tear gas, are two musicians: Hiwa K with his harmonica, Daroon Othman on the guitar. They play the movie score from "Once Upon a Time in the West", that alarming melody of two dissonant notes, immediately recognizable to everyone in the streets of Sulaimany, Kurdistan. As Hiwa K plays the harmonica, the tear gas invades his airways; music and the political situation coincide in the performer’s body. He subsequently compiled video footage shot by others in the documentary This Lemon Tastes of Apple. The title ties the events of 2011 back to Saddam Hussein’s genocidal campaign against the Kurds in 1988. The gas that was used back then smelled of apples.

It is always hard like this, not having a world, to imagine one, to go to the far edge apart and imagine, to wall whether in or out, to build a kind of cage for the sake of feeling the bars around us, to give shape to a world. And oh, it is always a world and not the world. – William Bronk
Commercial and technical developments on British Rail: new freight loads, air conditioned carriages, an ultrasonic test-train for checking the permanent way, a lecture train, and a new station for motorists - all part of the railway scene in the 1970's.
Beethoven’s Missa solemnis was performed on 13 and 14 February 2010 at the traditional memorial concert to commemorate the bombardment of dresden during the last weeks of World War II. Under Christian Thielemann, the Staatskapelle Dresden proved itself exceptionally qualified to master this work’s magnificient challenges. Thielemann “conjured up the gigantic cosmos of the Missa with such lightness and grace that its mystery seemed to reveal itself”, wrote the Frankfurter Allgemeine-Zeitung. No less remarkable was the fabulously homogenous solo quartet of singers. Recorded live at the Semperoper, Dresden, 13 February 2010.
His charisma was only outshone by his quality as a footballer. A true revelation in the red of Arsenal, Thierry Henry's legacy extends beyond his club record goal scoring. Honest and articulate, the French forward boasts a flair and personality that set him apart from the rest.

The vinyl floor is our playground. The camera stays fixed, staging a fragment of the floor. In this frame things may be seen and heard, but what we hear and see may as well come from outside of it. I am a child. Objects and things may be unfamiliar to me, but exploring seems deeply inherited in me. This is a concert. Can we look at what we hear and listen to what we see?
