Scrolling through hundreds of pages Insecam.com–over the course of a week I screen recorded thousands of live uploaded still images from footage recorded by cctv camera’s whose owners never changed their password from the default set by the manufacturer. I was thinking about the parallels between the destructive manhandling of nature and the diminishment of human freedom by the vast, overwhelming sea of advertisements we are driven through, leaving undetectable stains on our perception of the world and the necessity for consumption, violence, and ideological ignorance. Hope you feel it.
Devastated by the loss of his girlfriend, Ryan embarks on a journey to discover if he can reconnect with his beloved Simone.
They Were Promised the Sea is the story of a people whose identity as Arab Jews challenges the very notion of enemy. Informed by the director's family history, the film investigates the exodus that virtually emptied Morocco of its Jewish population, many believing they were no longer safe in their Arab homeland. Intimate interviews, poetry, recordings of Judeo-Andalusian music performed in Arabic, Hebrew, Ladino, thread the subjects' storylines and reveal a little-known history of a land and a people that resisted the separation of Arab and Jew and a country that sees itself as reincarnating the spirit of Al Andalus. Stunningly shot in former Jewish Berber villages, They Were Promised the Sea is a lyrical meditation on loss and longing, on hope and the possibilities of coexistence.

Rio de Janeiro. How far from the South Zone the Baixada Fluminense is found? Is it far enough for a region not know the other one? What are the (in)visible barriers that prevent an approximation? "Nunca fui, mas me disseram..." is a fun documentary that approaches, in an smart manner, the South Zone residents' view about the Baixada Fluminense. Independent and experimental, the film brings up questions about media manipulation, prejudice, the segregation between regions of the same state and auto-protection; without the pretentions of answering or clarifying something, only to argue about the stigmas' origin.
This short educational film was produced by Vignette Films, one of the first Black-owned film companies. Its members were Leo Sullivan, Norman Edelen, Richard Allen, and Floyd Norman.
