There Will Be Some Who Will Not Fear Even That Void is an ecological film for the 21st century - a film about the future of our planet that turns the traditional environmental documentary on its head. Rather than looking at our influence on the environment, ...Even That Void examines the environment's influence on us - emotionally, psychologically and ethically. The film suggests that the limits to exploring and dominating nature are no longer technological, but moral. We now have the technology to 'conquer' virtually any part of the planet if we want to - the question is no longer 'can we' but 'should we'?

This film revisits the same location – a room in my house – as an earlier work, Ghost Stories (1983), and is in fact prefaced with a sequence from that film. “A house that has been experienced is not an inert box. Inhabited space transcends geometrical space.” – Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space. Architectural, poetic and personal conceptions of space are counterposed and various techniques – multiple dissolves, superimpositions and extreme close-ups – are employed to this end. In revisiting, redescribing and reconstructing the room in the above terms my aim is to elaborate Bachelard’s apothegm: – N.H.

These Are Not My Images follows the voyage of a disillusioned Western filmmaker, accompanied by a half-blind guide and her encounter with a local filmmaker in a skewed "road movie" set in the near future. It evokes the different meanings of "place" : a location, a territory, a context, a situation, and a home. It speaks of being at your own place and being (at the place of) another, about identity and alterity, intimacy and distance, about the relationship between the "first" and the "Third". Images and sounds were recorded in Tamil Nadu. The images refer to different modes of image-making (painting, photography, film and video). They alternate from documentary" to "painterly images" created through digital and analog processing.
