The Stranger In Your Lover

An overworked woman encounters a pair of armed robbers on the subway home. When one of them is killed, apparently as he divulges the location of some stashed money to her- police place her in protective custody, only she is uncertain what the man told her prior to being shot as she was wearing a pair of headphone as the time. She meets up with a disgruntled cop (Richard Dean Anderson) who decides to join her in searching for the money. A strange twist makes their hunt possible.

Akiko (Mai Fukagawa) is a former idol, but now lives an ordinary life. She works at a company and keeps reminding herself that she is happy and to have a fulfilling day. One day, she walks to work and falls down. She becomes stuck and unable to move. Akiko breaks down mentally and decides to quit her job. Now, Akiko doesn't have a job, a boyfriend, and only 100,000 yen (~$700 USD) in her bank account. Her friend then tells her that she should move in with 56 year old salaryman Sasapon (Arata Iura), who lives alone in his house in Tokyo. When she visits Sasapon, he invites her to stay at his house on the condition that she can live there until his retirement. Their strange living arrangement begins.

Law firm partner Ko Sau-shing tracks down his former lover Yu Fung, whom he has not contacted for ages, online, and Yu Fung is looking for a part-time boyfriend with a similar appearance to him. Sau-shing arbitrarily approaches applicant Mo Kei-nam, who is a dead ringer for him. The duo also covertly agree to swap identities for two weeks. Sau-shing plays the role of Yu Fung’s “substitute lover”, and deadbeat Kei-nam disguises himself as Sau-shing while simultaneously dealing with his wife Lee Chi-ying and father-in-law Lee Kwun-hang as each and every crisis at the law firm is handled by him. While the identity swapping deadline looms, this pair of lookalikes are eventually shocked to realize their mutual life trajectories are already different from their expectations.

But despite the arrangements made by her mother Katsuko, living in an unfamiliar place makes her feel like a foreigner. One day, Naho comes across a painting of new green leaves by an obscure artist called Shirane Tatsuru when she stops by Minoyama Shungo’s art gallery and finds herself strongly attracted to it.
