Shane, an ambitious, energetic chef and his young daughter Izzy run a restaurant in the town of Munchington. Every day is a recipe for adventure for Shane and Izzy and each episode will focus on his high energy exploits and passion for food, whether it’s trying to build the biggest baguette for the world record, finding wild herbs in the woods or growing large vegetables for the village county fair.

Shattered City: The Halifax Explosion is a two-part miniseries produced in 2003 by CBC Television. It presents a fictionalized version of the Halifax Explosion, a 1917 catastrophe that destroyed much of the city of Halifax. It was directed by Bruce Pittman and written by Keith Ross Leckie. The Film Stars Vincent Walsh, Tamara Hope, Clare Stone, Zachary Bennett, Shauna MacDonald and Ted Dykstra. The series was expensive by Canadian television standards with a budget of $10.4 million. It was heavily promoted by the CBC and paired with a number of non-fiction documentaries. The broadcast drew a sizable Canadian audience of 1.5 million viewers. It drew some praise for the adept use of special effects to show the destruction of the explosion. However the miniseries was poorly received critically. One critic at the Globe and Mail described it as "execrably written and acted" while another strained to find positive elements, "At times, there is a plodding workmanlike quality to Shattered City." The miniseries won some technical awards at the Canadian television Gemini Awards in 2004 but was passed over for any direction or writing awards and won only a single supporting acting award for Ted Dykstra.

The events of the series revolve in a fictional framework, about (Juha), the legendary character, who rescues the daughter of the Shahbandar. He gets to know her and then falls in love with her. But the Shahbandar asks him to bring seven grooms for his seven daughters accompanied by imaginary requests.

Lau Kar-leung returns to the success of his first directed film, "The Spiritual Boxer," which also stars the original film's bumbling ghost controller, Wong Yu. Hoping to make the lightning of success strike in the same place, Lau had his two brothers Lau Kar-Wing and Gordon Liu not only act but also help with the fights. The end result is a martial arts film masterpiece filled with breathtaking action and set pieces.

The series reviews the daily life of Professor Shalash, through a large number of comical situations and paradoxes that arise through his relationship with his wife and children, or his relationships with neighbors or with his colleagues at work
