The Vagabond Queen is a 1929 British comedy film directed by Géza von Bolváry and starring Betty Balfour, Glen Byam Shaw and Ernest Thesiger. It was the final film directed in Britain by Bolváry before he returned to Germany. A young woman takes the place of a Princess who is a target for an assassination. This film was released in May 1929 as a silent film and re-released with synchronized music and sound effects in August 1930.

Life on a university campus with its own unconventional but dynamic culture ascribes to itself so many unusual privileges which provide unique opportunities for taking liberties mostly in a broad antisocial sense. In the university, several interests groups or clubs are commonplace. Against the Heavy Weights Club, another club Silver Lines Movement is born. SLM vows to oppose all antisocial, antidemocratic tendencies including economic exploitation on campus. The ensuing battle between the two clubs reveals the frenzied struggles for supremacy in all aspects of campus life. It also exposes the special interests of godfathers from inside and outside campus.

Local townspeople were cast in the films that document a movie queen on a return visit to her hometown as the whole town shows up to welcome her. Cram’s movies all include a scene in which the movie queen is kidnapped (with the local dignitaries playing the roles of kidnappers) and then rescued by a handsome hero.
