An audiovisual exploration of the utopian potential of zombiism. Two very popular dystopian scenarios exist in our collective imagination: the zombie apocalypse and the singularity. Both seem to represent our anxieties about a deep crisis of humanism. A humanism that placed reason and rationality above nature and all else that is living. This elevation kick started what now appears to be an unavoidable defeat of humanity in a deadly competition with itself. Our video essay contents that social conditions determine people’s actions, but that the people in turn create these conditions. The singularity (if it happens) will have been programmed by us. And the zombies, dehumanised human beings, we are supposed to be killing, are also created by us. In a world that seemingly already is ruled by unconscious zombies, we need to recognise that these zombies might be us. What would happen if we woke up and took seriously our responsibilities and powers?

The history of Rocky Mountain National Park is told with the help of historians, historical photographs and never before seen movie footage. Te begins with the Native American and Mountain Man eras through the pioneers. It continues through the 20th Century and into modern times. A group of individuals pooled their passions and dreams with those of naturalist Enos Mills. They persevered through opposition and antagonism while transforming an economy of mining and ranching to an economy of preservation and conservation. Legendary Everest climber Tom Hornbein and world-class climber, Tommy Caldwell share stories of Longs Peak and join others who pass on their legacies from this National Park.

The script about loneliness, conformity and the impossibility of creative realization scared the editorial censorship at the studio, and then at Derzhkino. A lot of claims were made against him. The demands for amendments and endless additions and rewrites by the authors lasted for about a year. The original version of the title "Na pokhony!" ("To bow down!") was replaced by "To Dream and to Live". According to Pylyp Ilyenko, the director's eldest son, this name appeared "as a result of censor pressure." Censorship stopped the tape 40 times: at the stage of the literary script, director's, during film tests (the actors were not approved), filming, etc. The film catastrophically fell apart into fragments, into masterfully filmed, but unrelated scenes. The director called the finished version a "dead film".
