Pai Niang Niang (1972)—was thought to have not been captured on film and faded into obscurity. This work used the Broadway musical model to adapt the famous Chinese myth Legend of the White Snake. This year in April, however, a partial film record of the performance was miraculously discovered. The restored surviving footage has become the finale of this documentary, Pai Niang Niang: The Last Osmanthus Blossom, bringing the saga to a flawless conclusion.

Madam Jung (Ra Mi-Ran) stole a bag from a gang boss which contained money. For the past 7 years, she has been in hiding. One day, Madam Jung meets young Eun-Mi (Shin Rin-Ah). She is a victim of domestic violence. It tells a story about a bar owner and an abused child joining forces to maintain possession of a money bag they pick up serendipitously. Madam Jung is a bar hostess and Eun Mi is her partner-in-crime, a child abused by her stepfather and used as a money-making tool by her mother.

The 62-year-old Meng Jinfu is the last shaman of the Orogen ethnic group in China. He and his wife Ding Quiqin live in the deep forest of the Greater Xing'an Mountains all year round and live a primitive life. In the 1950s, the Chinese government helped Orogen people relocate from the forest to settlements. However, Meng Jingfu who had lived in the forest since childhood, eventually returned there with his wife and made a living by hunting. Though his life is difficult, he has been happy since childhood in the forest. But since then area has been deforested and the animal population has decreased, Meng Jinfu has been worried. The resettlement under the mountain has fundamentally changed the customs of the Orogen people.

Now old men, the last of the true Cape Horners tell of the dreadful conditions in which they lived and worked while sailing the great souther ocean towards the Horn. The film is illustrated with amazing archival footage shot on board three of these vessels in the last days of sail.
