The Kung Fu Getaway

"Dual of Kung Fu" focuses on action and martial arts, taking the rise of Chinese action movies and the question of epochs as a guide. Learning Drunken Boxing and other Chinese martial arts moves recreates classic action movie scenes and highlights the honing of young actors' acting skills. The whole process of training, cultural exchange and learning, in order to showcase the industry ecology behind action movies, tries to trigger a new round of attention and discussion amongst society about Chinese Kung Fu and action actors.

An update of the 1960s Chinese martial arts story, Buddha's Palm, friends Charles and Chi (Andy Lau, Pak-Cheung Chan) visit Mainland China and discover an ancient cave that houses what is supposed to be the makeshift tomb of the legendary martial artist Lung Gim-Fei. The friends find an old spell book and practice some magic, which unintentionally breaks open a wall and releases a dormant princess (Joey Wang) and her handmaiden (Siu-Wai Mui). Charles and Chi take the Princess and her Handmaiden back to Hong Kong with them, unaware that they were followed by the just-awaken evil warlord, Tien Chien (Wah Yuen).

Mulan grew up in a martial arts family, has a dream to become a female warrior in the Kingdom. By forced to join the army in her father’s stead, she finds a way to express herself. However, during a mission that she was supposed to assassinate the Crown prince of a hostile kingdom, she never knows that this decision changed her life entirely. They fell in love. From then on, she has a new goal, not to fight for her achievement but to bring peace for the people of both countries. In the end, she triumphed over the villain and also understood the true meaning of being a warrior.

A new documentary film revisits the golden age of kung fu stuntmen and action directors in Hong Kong during the 1960s-'80s, exploring their pain and struggles. The documentary is a tribute to kung fu stuntmen. “They risked their lives for stunts,” said kung fu choreographer Yuen Bin. In their heyday, these stuntmen and choreographers presented the best, most creative and most complicated kung fu fight sequences anywhere in the world, creating stunts that looked seemingly impossible.

Chi Mo Sai (Yuen Wah) meets Wong (Roger Kwok) in Auntie Fei's (Yuen Qiu) cafe and learns that Wong has photographic memory. He decides to exploit this skill by teaching Wong how to play Mahjong, but Fei, Wong's boss, strongly objects to it. Despite Fei's objections, Wong learns Mahjong from compulsive gambler Chi Mo Sai. He impresses triad boss Tin Kau Ko (Wong Jing). Wong falls in love with Tin's mistress (Theresa Fu) and is beaten by Tin's men. Wong then becomes crazy. Luckily, Fei cured him using Mahjong. Fei wanted Wong to beat Tin in the "King of Mahjong" competition and be the King of Mahjong. The film ends with a climactic "King of Mahjong" Competition. It is the only film made in 2005 to boast of having a sequel made in 2005.

Ming General Cheng (Wang Dao) and his band of soldiers escape to Taiwan after Ching forces topple the Ming Dynasty. Still fearing the deposed general's deadly potential, however, the Ching prince Ta orders his own band of ruthless mercenaries to finish off Cheng and his warriors. The rivals prove to be equally skilled, and soon everybody is kung fu-fighting in this action-heavy martial arts spectacular.

Hsia Hu sneakily graduates from the Shaolin Monastery without completing his required training. During his first encounters with people outside the monastery, Hsia Hu realizes that people are mistaking him for his twin brother, Hsiao Fu, who happens to be a criminal and an expert in the art of Kung-Fu. He is now treated with respect as well as fear and is taking advantage of his mistaken identity. His fun comes to a halt when he is confronted by Yi Lan, a former accomplice turned enemy.

Bruce Le stars as Bruce Lee, a young teenager who is the leader of the Liu City gang, who gets into trouble and street fights every now and again. Bruce is a student in the style of Chinese boxing, but when his skills are not enough to fend off a rival kung fu gang, his father has him go to a man named Master Yen, who teaches him Wing Chun fist. Later, to avenge the death of a friend, Bruce learns the secret art of drunken snake fist boxing!

When his son and heir is injured by rivals, a mob kingpin finds his son's long-lost twin, whose personality defies gangster clichés and expectations.

Filmmaker Ian Taylor examines the impressive legacy of Hong Kong cinema -- specifically, how martial arts crossed borders and become an international phenomenon -- with the help of footage and interviews with the stars who made the genre what it is today. Director Lau Ka Leung (who helmed The 36th Chamber of Shaolin) joins in, sharing his thoughts on how certain cinematic technologies have improved martial arts films and expanded their appeal, on the set of Drunken Monkey (2003).

Kuan-Chun Chi stars as Kun Tak, a monastery worker who falls victim to the ploys of a sinister monk and flees his temple in shame, only to fortuitously cross paths with a host of martial arts masters who school him in the ways of kung fu. Once Kun Tak becomes a master himself, he returns to the temple to exact revenge against the monk and reveal his evil plot to the world. Directed by Chiu Lee, the film also stars Fei Meng.

Ah Lung is a decent law abiding citizen armed with deadly martial arts skills. He soon discovers he has a brother who is a gangster, Man Ho. All martial hell breaks loose when he tries to meddle in the gangs affairs.

In a small Chinese town wandering criminals kill a local merchant to take over his trade routes, leaving Liang Kun (Leung Kar Yan) to seek vengeance and protect his town.

Dirty Kung Fu is about a young bounty hunter who uses his kung fu skills or lack thereof to capture criminals.

A kung fu warrior with the ability to travel into the past and the future finds himself giving interdimensional chase to two deadly aliens.

It's a comedy of time-bending proportions when a mummy from ancient Peru is set loose on the streets of modern-day Hollywood with $200 million in rare jewels stuffed inside of him. Of course, it doesn't take long for every crook in town to catch wind of the mummy's hidden riches, setting off a chain reaction of trickery and tomfoolery. Director Randy Morgan also wrote the screenplay for this blend of experimental comedy and B-movie camp.
