The In Between

Jisoo is a medium who comforts wandering spirits. She visits the parents of a Catholic, who cut off their relationship after Jisoo taking a medium role for her life, to hold her sister’s memorial ceremony. Jisoo's mother, who strongly believed that Jisoo was used in evil spirits, suddenly asks Jisoo to talk to her dead eldest daughter.

When working in Tokyo, Erika embarks on the journey of stepping outside the role prescribed by her biological sex and relieving the suppressed feminine self. This film documents Erika’s life journey of gradually building up her ideal body image, including the sexual reassignment surgery (SRS). Through Erika’s experience moving between Japan and Taiwan, as well as male and female identities, the film sheds light on the unique life experience of transgender people.

An experimental short animated film originated from a game mod in which the artist manipulated disoriented, half-naked avatars that wander around darkened cityscapes in bathing suits, fur coats, or with slices of cucumber over their eyes. They function as shell-like proxies for players, appearing at once strangely massive and empty within the sometimes crude aesthetic of the computer game.

The Old City of Jerusalem, the land on which King Solomon, Jesus, Saladin Titus, and many others walked, continues to attract believers and visitors from all over the world. Within the ancient city walls “Platoon C”, a special border police unit, exclusively operates to secure the tensed area. The platoon itself consists of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim soldiers, who are torn between their inner faith and their intuitive training as cops, a role that requires neutralization of emotion.

The film follows the refugee crisis in 2015 and 2016 from the perspective of a young Lebanese woman, Boushra Jaber. She came to Serbia in 2015 to work on her PhD. Driven by a deep desire to help she started working as an Arabic translator in a refugee camp in Presevo, on the Serbian-Macedonian border. During her three months in the field, Boushra faced personal and professional challenges that put her beliefs to the test.
