CREATION BETWEEN TWO SURFACES A Film By Hossein Rajabian Statement I've tried my best to make a film about wisdom, rather than insanity. I firmly believe that we may not believe in wisdom and that's why we continue to live in madness. We have to admit that almost all of us are - one way or another - the inheritors of our predecessors' insanity. To get rid of madness, we have taken a big gamble - i.e. thinking - in our lives. Hossein Rajabian
We remember dates and facts, while losing tiny details – like a bouquet of summer wildflowers, tears from onions, winter cold on a bus stop bench. We remember the birthdays of our beloved and how they like their tea, but we forget unexpected touches, floating glances, casual chats. And sometimes – when we are rapidly torn apart from each other – we engrave such moments into our memory.

The camera pans slowly through the deserted streets of a middle-class suburb: singlefamily houses with nothing unusual about them, well tended gardens in front, fences, road signs. The voice of a young woman reports on the way her family spent their days when she was a child and how this was characterised by punctuality, exclusion, limitation and conformity.
Short film deals with the relationship of a peasant couple from Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, through their journey towards their cherry-trees orchard adjacent to the Syrian-Israeli border, torn apart in between two fires; echoes of the constant shelling in Syrian and decades-old Israeli forced occupation.
Within a circle humans exploit animals--predators and victims share the same vital space, for good or for evil. Was the first weapon created to kill, to hunt or for defense? Do we stand innocent or guilty in our treatment of animals? With its brilliant reds and blues exploding within the heartbeat of the circle, now a radar screen, now a target, now a planet, Between Red and Blue explores the dichotomy inherent in life.
