The Angel of History deals with the troubling presence of unsolved past events in actual and imagined realities. It takes place in various public and private arenas like the artist's studio, the arena of murder, the photographic frame, the museum, the body or the cemetery. The Angel of History offers new perspectives for understanding the complex relations which are spun around the museal space. The movie probes beyond the standard and limited museal relationships between artist and work or viewer and work, exposing the fragile, troubled and intimate relations between the various protagonists who participate in the becoming-public of the work of art: between a daughter and her mother, between an analyst and his patient, between father and son, between photographer and photographic subject, between a ghost from the past and contemporary figures, and between hangman and victim.

“Historic Exception State” originates from my visiting the pyramid of the legend at Qixing Mountain. Through the stroll and walk, the sense and memory accumulated inside and outside the body and the guidance of many linking prick points, with the images which are born with timeliness and constructiveness of reality and fantasy, the film develops with the creation of exploring memories, history and nature.

In the early days of the revolution, three young cameramen working for the National TV take their cameras out on to the streets of Tehran to capture the people’s revolution. This documentary covers the revolutionary events from 8 September 1978 to February 1979, using a politically strident voiceover narration, which does not match the relatively evenhanded visuals and editing.

The question remains as pertinent today as it was at the beginning of World War II, and it is becoming increasingly urgent to answer, as countless tragedies have been caused by unethical political decisions.
