The Circle Of Death

A woman and a man in their forties meet up for the first time IRL in a municipal gymnasium with the intention of creating a space of trust between themselves. A ”room” where they safely can explore sides of themselves that they suppress in their everyday lives.

Earth to earth, water to water. The body weight of a newborn child is up to 85 percent water, but in adulthood, the ratio can be cut into half. In a way, people dry up as they grow older. In Claudia Tosi’s documentary, people drink water, watch the rain and wait for their death. The Perfect Circle depicts a man and a woman, Ivano and Meris, who spend their final days at a hospice in the hills of Reggio Emilia, Northern Italy. Their illnesses are in the terminal stage and they know that death is only a matter of time. But the ever-nearing end may fleetingly be forgotten, like when they close their eyes and get lost in the music – until the bodies being carried out next door once again remind them of the inevitable. Death also becomes a part of life for the patients’ loved ones, who want to spend the last available moments with the soon to be departed.

Hypnotist and magician David Cheishvili, trying to rescue his son from a petty criminal history, makes some concession to the investigator and helps to get the coveted signature in the testimony of a certain defendant. The hypnotist's abilities are put into use. The trick succeeds and the victim signs under the testimony, but the rules of the game are violated by the investigator himself.

Fifteen locations are the stage where fifteen performers, among artists, poets, students etc., one per location, perform a fragment of “Wild Cathedral”, a poem by the mythical Ecuadorian poet César Dávila Andrade. The city slowly drives her into a paranoid journey in which she is forced to face her greatest wishes, desires and fears. Her life is spinning in circles. Alone and desperate, she decides to break that circle.
