In the hard-boiled world, where will the soft-shelled end up? A cozy kind of extermination is on the stage and keeping a low profile. The decadence around us is nothing less than clandestine annihilation of the civil man. Yet it is carried out so well with a grinning face, it is officially sold as transition. Now that the tamed indulgent is striped off social justice, welfare, even denied the tender love of concentration camps and slavery plantations of past centuries. At least hand them a round of rope They have high expectations from taking things in their own hands. Circle is a peculiar story of an ordinary man caught between an untimely romance and a brave new hostile world.

Police captain Aleshin is investigating a case related to the theft of opium at a chemical factory warehouse. It took Kaori Sakagami six years to receive permission for shooting her documentary in a Japanese prison. In a unique project, a limited number of inmates can participate in a therapeutic circle in order to understand the mental and social conditions of their behavior. Even after being released from prison, former inmates are supported by psychologists and social workers. What is remarkable in the process: the inmates learn to support each other and to open up toward the experiences of others.

The way it appears now is not how it used to be. It couldn’t be, otherwise this would be something else. Perhaps for a moment I am there again, but when I open my eyes I can’t remember anything. There is only this longing for someplace I've never been.

Chronicles the disputed history of the decades old conflict between Armenians and Azerbaijanis over the territory of Nagorno Karabakh, drawing upon precious original interviews with eyewitnesses and participants in the events of 1988-94, from presidents to military field commanders, to ordinary people whose lives were turned upside down by the fighting. Produced and created by a joint group of Armenian and Azerbaijani journalists and documentary filmmakers, it examines how and why the conflict originated; the hard, bloody years of war; and the process of negotiations and attempts to resolve the conflict that continue to this day.

She invites the viewer to make the disconcerting experience of unbinding and emptiness. Such an approach involves an ethical posture. The Barcelona School follows in the footsteps of a modernity that intends to move away from an alienating authoritarian discourse and claims to make the spectator a partner in creation.

Rapidly flickering circles flash and flutter across the screen, accompanied by various sound effects produced by Yamamoto Satoshi. The movement of the circles was produced as a result of Imai’s action of directly punching a hole in each frame of the film strip and projecting it at the spend of twenty-four frames a second. As each hole was punched randomly without exact measurement, the circles appear and disappear in different parts of the screen, which creates the sensation of a flicker film. This work was screened at the first Sōgetsu Experimental Film Festival in 1967 held at the Sōgetsu Art Center in Tokyo. En demonstrates Imai’s interest in foregrounding the materiality of the film celluloid as the source for moving image, as well as the impact of various sounds on the viewer’s perception of the images.

We think we're free because we are shielded and protected by security system. But we are but a number, a code. Surely there's a way out. A new society awaits, a new being is growing up somewhere in the solar system.

The film is showcasing the discrimination and violence faced by Ezidi Kurds (Yazidis) due to their religion, in a symbolic event which took place between primary school children in Turkish part of Mesopotamia. This fiction film is inspired by true events in the region, performed by 39 local Kurdish children of Hasankeyf villages and shooted in Hasankeyf, an ancient city, which is planned to go under water in 2017 by Ilisu Hydroelectric Dam.

Over and over again, structures of larger contexts can be retrieved in details. They mirror, they contradict, they caricature each other. And again, all human thinking seems to be an enormous utopia within the framework we can hardly adjust. Our physical space is limited, but therein, mental constructions come to improbable proportions. The film connects fragments of memories, thoughts and observations, finding recurrent themes in different graduation. Therefore these fragments become something different, they form their own.

The Circle is a documentary about the Large Hadron Collider. The LHC is a gigantic scientific instrument near Geneva, where it spans the border between Switzerland and France about 100m underground. It is a 27km particle accelerator used by physicists to study the origin of everything. Results and interpretation of the collisions of particles will revolutionize our understanding of the Universe and how it began. The Circle leaves the scientific aspect of the experiment and makes a journey above the ground. We follow the 27km circle in an existential search for local people with an opinion about what's happening below.
