Genius, Maverick, Legend, George Best is perhaps the most talented footballer ever to walk the face of the earth. Best was the best, Pele, Cryuff, Maradona – all were superb but Best had their talent and more. George Best had the confidence and arrogance to try absolutely anything – he knew he was a genius and was not afraid to show the world. He revelled in the limelight but as the first of the new superstars, he found himself unable to cope with the temptations thrown at his feet – alcohol, late nights & women. He indulged them all and as a result walked out of top class professional football in 1972 aged just 26.

In his trademark fez, look of heroic confusion and perfect sense of comic timing, Tommy Cooper could have an audience in his pocket before he even said a word. Then the jokes would flow, the tricks fall flat and an open-mouthed Cooper would reduce them once more to helplessness. And so, for 30 years, this burly, gangly, seemingly incompetent magician dominated light entertainment television. This compilation features Tommy Cooper at his best: from his early TV show It's Magic to his Variety Show turns, and from his famous chat show appearances to his performances on his own TV shows in the 1970s.

Les Dawson made the mother-in-law joke his stock-in-trade, but this master of stand-up comedy would play his audience with a rich array of comic talents. His deadpan "northern" delivery, a rubber-like miserable face (which he himself described as resembling "a sack of spanners"), his fishwife impersonations, comic monologues and a unique talent for just-off-key piano playing would leave them screaming for more. His sour, downturned grin, his cheeky flash of the eyes and an audience in uncontrollable hysterics are among the memories gleaned here as Les comperes Blankety Blank and Opportunity Knocks and displays his full range of comic talents in The Les Dawson Show.
