To be somewhere precise yet stand nowhere at all, to embody one’s convictions, yet never miss the essential, to rise up and be present at the critical moment, to bear witness to a world waiting to tell itself and be retold, to come and go, both at once, abandoning reckless speed, but rather gently touching the human soul with images, with whispered words, the cracks in the wall of life: this is the choreography masterfully created in the film Beyond Territories, Valerie Osouf’s portrait of the world acclaimed filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako.

This colorful wildlife documentary follows the flight birds and expresses the need for conservation and sanctuaries. Baby seals are shown being clubbed to death for their pelts. The creatures of nature face the biggest enemy in humans who pollute and show callous disregard for the sanctity of wildlife and conservation.

Occupied Territories is the story of a plunder told by the people of the mountains of Caramulo. People speak of their life after the violent occupation and forestation of their community lands by the State in 1941. They speak of misery and emigration, of the ruptures and wounds imposed by the violent course of history, they tell of their resistance to this expropriation. They also have the memory of a time when communities were built in a collective perception of the territory that surrounded them.

When I got to Rignano, the Ghetto residents told me: "You mustn't keep any trace of our lives here in these precarious houses. This despair is not yours to display." The misery in the Ghetto is the first thing that struck me, the first thing I wanted to show.

“Territorio Puloui” is a documentary that explores the relationship between the indigenous Wayuu community and water. It tells the journey of Carmela, who visits the La Guajira peninsula for the first time, her father's home region and ancestral territory of the Wayuu people. Carmela listens to the voices of indigenous leaders and sheds light on the environmental impact of coal mining in the region. At the same time, she discovers the strategies used by the women of the community to survive the lack of water. The documentary immerses us in the Wayuu cosmogony through their myths, legends and beliefs, depicted in a series of animations that explore their dream universe.
