A Lebanese filmmaker (Karim) travels from New York to Beirut to conduct research for a film that he wants to make about blind children in the mountains of Lebanon. He arrives to Beirut with a condition that had been affecting his eyes and causes him to go straight into surgery, temporarily blinding him with patches covering his eyes. He uses the healing time to reflect, write and spend time with his family. The filmmaker then begins to visit the blind institute where he will conduct his research and attempts to cast someone to play himself in parallel, which doesn't go as planned. Little does the institute know that Karim has no treatment to pitch but continues to visit the classrooms and attend in order to find his characters.
On a chilly fall night, Atlanta’s historic Buckhead Theatre hosted an unforgettable, marathon performance by Iron and Wine. The show was a sort of homecoming for frontman Sam Beam, who grew up a few hours from Atlanta, and he delivered a two-hour, 24-song set for the invitation-only audience of 500. The eleven-piece band played virtually all of Iron and Wine’s most recent album, Kiss Each Other Clean, plus favorites like “Naked as We Came” and “Boy with a Coin,” before Beam closed the remarkable night with a luminous solo version of the brand-new “Flightless Bird, American Mouth,” from the Twilight: Breaking Dawn soundtrack.
A young boy struggles to get through to his mum because of his severe autism. This short film is made to raise more awareness about ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). When I saw the struggle people with autism and their relatives go through--every day--I realized: if only people would be able to take a look inside the world of someone with autism, if only people would understand a little of what it really means for them, many judgments and dismissive actions towards people with autism, can be turned into motivating and stimulating actions. Understanding is the key for a change of behavior. It is my hope this film will create more of this understanding.
