Walking in Obedience contains dramatic scenes and incredible scenery depicting the journey of a Danish family traveling with the Willie Handcart Company. It is told through the words of those that lived through the experience with both the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies.

Saddled by a senile grandfather and a neglectful father, Mina, an impulsive twelve-year-old Afghan street seller sees her future slipping away when she is forced to neglect her education and walk the streets of Kabul to support her fragmented family. In the seven days that follow her life, Mina’s quest to emancipate her father from the claws of a local drug dealer and her attempt to secretly attend school underlines the current struggle of a young generation of Afghans trying to shake off the echoes of oppression from the Taliban era that continues to haunt those who bore witness to it.

Justin Mulford’s story starts off similarly as he charged the amateur motocross ranks until several challenges many amateur racers face, along other passions, started to take his interests drove him away from two wheels. Oliver Ousterhout, DP, turns this journey into expansive meditation on time and space and Max Mollring, colorist, makes every scene into a dream-like painting.

A New Zealander and an Irishman quit their jobs, cash in their savings and walk 2,626 miles from Mexico to Canada along one of the longest and most challenging foot trails in the world, the Pacific Crest Trail. Their route takes them through some of the most spectacular scenery in North America, including California’s deserts, the high mountain passes of the Sierra Nevada, the Cascade Mountains and the lush forests of Oregon and Washington States. Walking at a challenging pace of 21 miles a day for 4.5 months, they must cross the Canadian border before the approaching winter storms.
