“A future historian, if he or she is honest, will feel a legitimate need to place the decade 1968 to 1978 alongside the great events that changed the world, such as the French and Russian Revolutions”. A reporter from the TV station went to Zhangtou Village, a remote mountain village known for monkey opera, arranged by colleagues Fang Hong and Xiaobin on the TV station to interview. However, after entering the village, many strange things happened to them one after another. Out of the professional instinct of discovering and revealing secrets, the three reporters went deep into the mountain forest to find out, but "Xiaoguang" suddenly went crazy and even disappeared, covering the mountain village with strange things with an unknown fear.

Story is based on a novel of the first Slovene female writer from the 19th century when also the story of the film is set. It's a never-ending and forever repeating story of neighbors, who can not reconcile. As they need the fight to stand out for their position of "neighbors", as that's the ultimate and only role of people living next to each other being called neighbors.
