Take Australia's vocal superstars The Ten Tenors, add a 90 piece orchestra, a percussion section and some of the world's leading musicians. Apply all of this to the compositional work of film score icon John Barry and his celebrated lyricist partner Don Black. You have ‘A Night With The Ten Tenors ‘Here’s To The Heroes.’ Recorded live in the European city of Hamburg this concert event offers a unique reworking of some James Bond tunes and renditions of Queen.
Billions watched as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras performed for the first time as The Three Tenors 30 years ago. This is their story.
In the late 1990s (I think – EuroArts is not forthcoming with this information), film-maker Jan Schmidt-Garre created a series of thirteen nearly half-hour television programs about tenors who lived, sang, and recorded during der Schellackzeit – the time of the 78-rpm record. Six of those programs are collected here, back to back, and I assume that the other seven will be along presently.

Filmed live at the Wexford Festival Opera, this superb version of Giuseppe Gazzaniga's celebrated opera buffa "Don Giovanni Tenorio" tells the Don Juan story and stars Miroslav Kopp as the notorious rogue famous for seducing women. Some of his conquests include Donna Elvira (Andrea Bolton), Donna Anna (Malmfrid Sand), Donna Ximena (Joan Davies) and Maturina (Alison Browner). A bonus documentary on the Wexford Festival is included.
In this concert that was broadcast to an estimated 2 billion viewers worldwide, opera virtuosos Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti fill Paris's historic Champ de Mars with melodic masterpieces. Performing during the 1998 World Cup, the three masters captivate their audience with songs including "Caruso," "Lolita," "Maria, Marì," "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "'O Sole Mio," accompanied by the artful Orchestra de Paris.
Music Spanning over four hundred Years.
The concert from Belfast, which establishes the format: John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan appearing on a small, plain stage and singing mostly traditional songs ("She Moved Through the Fair," "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?") in both solos and trios with a full orchestra in front of an appreciative audience. These classically trained performers have strong voices, enthusiasm, and more than a bit of whimsy.
TheIrish Tenors televised concert from Dublin is most notable for the debut of new tenor Finbar Wright after McDermott had taken leave from the group following the death of his mother. McDermott does make a brief but dramatic appearance, however, to sing "The Last Rose of Summer," as a tribute to his parents, then rejoins Kearns and Tynan for "Red Is the Rose." And of course both shows include "Danny Boy"--as inevitable a closer as "Nessun dorma" was for that other trio of tenors. I
