Documentaries about punk rock always focus on what was happening in London, New York or L.A. But Brad Warner and his friends didn't live in "happening" places like that. Like thousands of other kids all over the country in those days, they made their own scene in their own town out of nothing.

Scratch begins as a standard 8 film fragment, originally filmed in our 60’s basement kitchen, and reprojected as a loop 5 times with a repeated coda of junk and glitch footage, onto a ground glass screen, refilmed in black and white on 16mm film stock.This sequence then begins a series of repetitions that run through negative image, reversed image, solarized, solarized and double exposed, colourized, and finally solarised and reversed with a colour sequence for each process. The central colour section repeats and starts to reverse the procedure through the sequences to the first iteration.At this point a scratch appears, a rich white line that appears momentarily on the image...

“Screen” is an experimental film for present tragedies. Broken souls. Atrocious thoughts. A haywire mind. Melancholia at its finest. A seemingly broken tape, with the episodes stuck at a certain place, unable to move forward. Because once you start to stare at the screen, there is no way out. Time ticks superficially slow as you see yourself at down low. And the moment you gaze at the reflection in front is the moment you wake yourself up to reality. Are you still living?
