Once every so often, perhaps not often enough, we hear a story that captures our imagination, transports us to another place and time, and causes each of us to stop for a brief moment to reflect on ourselves, and the world we live in. 'The Pirates of Central Park,' a contemporary adaptation of the early Twentieth Century short story, 'The Pirate of the Round Pond' by Lord Dunsany, is such a story. Told through the eyes of three New York City kids whose thirst for power and adventure lead them to pursue a career as modern day pirates in the City's famous Central Park, the story poignantly contemplates the age old lesson of right versus wrong, and teach us all, young and old, that there is a high price to pay for seeking personal triumph in the malicious sinking of other people's hopes, dreams - and ships!

Rouxelle and her parents have just moved to a new village. None of the local children her age can read yet, so to impress them she boasts that she can read, but this is a lie. When the children find a bottle containing a map and a mysterious message, they look to Rouxelle to translate it for them. In a panic, she guesses the meaning, and says it will lead them to find treasure. But as they go exploring and end up separated and in danger, they find out Rouxelle wasn’t telling the truth.

Jake decides to take on the quest, and taking Izzy's pixie dust and Cubby's map with him, sets off to find and restore the magical Forever Tree, the power of which sustains all of Never Land.

Rube's and Ben's wives are waitresses. An art collector purchases a rare picture and the "picture pirate," representing himself as another collector, calls on the first collector. As he is leaving the place Rube and Ben try to pick his pockets, and admonishing them as amateurs, he tells them to join in with him and try to steal the picture. They take the art collector's wife with them to the same café wherein their wives are waitresses. Ben and Rube leave her there and hasten to her home to steal a copy of the picture, the owner having hidden the original. They also drink some poisoned whiskey left for them and fall into a fit. Later the "picture pirate" pays Rube and Ben for the picture, thinking it is the original.
