Set in the majestic landscapes of the sovereign Indigenous territories of Canada’s west coast, In the Garden of Forking Paths was almost entirely filmed solo by children. Handing a tiny omnidirectional camera from one to another and transforming it into an instrument to explore wondrous parallel universes, the children-filmmakers lead us on a mesmerizing adventure of perception. Their ingenuity evokes both the ideal of an eye unconstrained by habits of perspective and the utopia of a cinema freed from technology by means of technology itself. Thanks to a lyrical intertwining of ethnography, play and reverie, the film becomes a touching invitation to reimagine entanglements among humans, nonhumans, and the world surrounding them.

Death in the Garden of Paradise is an intensely personal meditation on the murder of the filmmaker's father and sister in Lahore by an unknown intruder. The disassociation caused by traumatic loss and the impossibility of knowing the identity of the killer flow seamlessly into the film's aesthetics so that familiar sights become strange, shopkeepers and passing pedestrians become suspects, and sound is fragmented and distorted. Architecture and haunted spaces, deserted gardens, photographs and paintings are both metaphors and physical locations in this elegant elegy to mortality

In the garden of a Baroque villa, a chamber orchestra is playing Mozart’s wonderful quartets and quintets, and everywhere is pervaded with echoes and references to the composer’s world. As if by magic or conjured by the imagination, figures emerge from the shadows of the labyrinthine garden: they are Mozart’s characters, and they play with – or perhaps make fun of – the guests at the party, embroiling them in their well-known amorous dalliances. This piece, in which the spectator encounters among the dreamlike medley many well-known protagonists from Mozart’s operas (including Figaro, Don Giovanni, and the Queen of the Night), is a full-length choreographic work by Massimiliano Volpini, who himself performed on stage for many years as a dancer with the Scala ensemble.
