"Corpus delicti": object that materially proves the existence of a criminal offense, a crime. Filmmaker Léolo reverses the perspective and asks in this docufiction what society does with the bodies of those who break the rules and resist power. The film successively gives a voice to the mutilated victims of police brutality and to a young fictional gay activist, carried by both his love and his devotion, but crushed by the legal system and prison. The film asks essential and necessary questions about the difficult intersection of art and politics, expression and action, justice and violence.

A director is filming on location in a house where seven murders were committed. The caretaker warns them not to mess with things they do not understand (the murders were occult related), but the director wants to be as authentic as possible and has his cast re-enact rituals that took place in the house thus summoning a ghoul from the nearby cemetery to bump the whole film crew off one by one.

Itso, about 35, drives a special ambulance called a 'corpse-van'. His job is to pick up the bodies of the recently deceased and transport them to the morgue. Itso's assistant is a Gypsy with the nickname 'Buddy'. Mimi, a nice and lovable ward-maid from the morgue likes Itso, but he doesn't really pay much attention to her, because he is in love with Katya, an attractive 40 years old woman. Katya humiliates Itso and uses him, but it doesn't change his feelings for her. Katya turns out to be a mistress of the mafia boss Rocco, who beats her and one of the days - brutally rapes her, which is seen by Itso. Buddy convinces Itso that real men deal with life problems by administering justice themselves. Itso decides to rescue Katya and her 14-year old son Mario from Rocco, and free the world from a villain... This complex story, referring to subconscious, psychology and symbolism, is not only about freeing the world from outside evil, but also freeing a man from his inner demons...

It is a simple story with a deep meaning. When the beautiful chanteuse Hung (Law Yim-hing) is forced to marry Commander Lau (Lau Hark-suen), her brother (Cheng Wai-sum) interferes but is brutally beaten to death. Hung also falls to her death when she tries to escape. The siblings are only hastily buried in a coffin home, which is haunted soon afterwards. Hung's lover Wong (Wong Chiu-mo) later sneaks into the haunted house hoping to see her for one last time; Lau, meanwhile, insists on inspecting the coffin home and the corpses to prove that ghosts do not exist…The film creates an eerie and uncanny atmosphere with its well-designed camera angles, sound and editing. The haunting looks of the two ghost characters are a nod to Hong Kong's typically told horror stories.
