Streaming America

The War that Made America is a PBS miniseries about the French and Indian War, which was first aired in two parts on January 18 & 25, 2006. The series features extensive reenactments of historical events, with on-screen narration provided by Canadian actor Graham Greene. Much of the story focuses on George Washington, connecting his role in the war with the later American Revolution. Pontiac's Rebellion, which followed the French and Indian War, is also covered in the series. The series was filmed in June, July, and August 2004 in and around the Western Pennsylvania region where many events actually took place during the war.

The life of American woman Mildred Gillars and her lawyer, who struggles to redeem her reputation. Dubbed “Axis Sally” for broadcasting Nazi propaganda to American troops during World War II, Mildred’s story exposes the dark underbelly of the Third Reich's hate-filled propaganda machine, her eventual capture in Berlin, and subsequent trial for treason against the United States after the war.

A young Chinese woman studying abroad in the United States gets a phone call from her parents informing of her grandfather’s death. The young woman tries to spend the rest of her day normally. She makes plans with friends to go out and visit the city after school to brush away the shock. When the cab arrives and she heads to the city with her friends, she decides against it at the last minute. The young woman asks the cab driver to stop as she wants to buy a paper money package. Soon enough, an unlikely friendship arises between the cab driver and the young woman as they reminisce about Beijing, fold, and burn the paper money to commemorate their dead.

An unfinished film by Aleksandr Dovzhenko, the film is a political lampoon based on the book entitled The Truth about US Diplomats, written in 1949 by the American writer Annabel Bukar. It exposes the underhanded actions of US Embassy personnel in Moscow at the onset of the Cold War. Dovzhenko managed to shoot only a half of the film, mainly the scenes that take place in the American Embassy.

Another cut-and-paste action flick from IFD Films, this one splices together scenes from the Taiwanese film "Underground Wife" aka "Kill Butterfly Kill" with new footage featuring actor Mike Abbott and a bunch of other doofuses.

A three-part anthology film. Story 1: A released convict traces his girlfriend and other people who were responsible for his imprisonment. Story 2: A factory worker Pantic comes to Belgrade where he befriends a waiter. Having no overnight lodge, Pantic spends the night in the bar where his new acquaintance works, and becomes a victim of group of people who start picking on him. The initially protective waiter joins their harassment, and that's when Pantic pulls out a knife. Story 3: A female reporter gets back from the province without getting job done. On her way back, she meets an abused woman who lives with her husband in a trailer, making grill. The two will run away together, facing many hazards and trials.

When Dr. Marcus Sommers realizes that he and his troubled, estranged brother David may be prone a fatal brain disease that runs in their family, he decides to make peace with his sibling, and invites him on a trip to the Rockies. However, Marcus' health soon begins to fail, and David must compete without his brother at his side.
