Real life may be nothing but an enormous yarn someone somewhere is spinning...

Detective Jack Spencer is investigating several strange disappearances. His investigation brings him to question a local energy consultant, Dr. John Charles. Charles has been assisting the aliens in abducting humans for energy, expecting them to leave when they have enough, not knowing they will never be content.

Filmed over three years in remote parts of the Amazon Rainforest, Broken Spectre is presented across an immersive 20-metre widescreen panorama, utilising different visually arresting strategies to depict the unfolding crisis; each shifting in scale and focus to convey these urgent environmental fault lines more powerfully.

When a lady goes home to her apartment after a hard day at work, an apparition of one from her past appears in her presence. Her bittersweet memories then shows as flashbacks in the presence of the spectre, reminding her of what used to be.

When a couple moves into a new house for a total steal, they discover the catch: the annoying ghost of the teenage girl who died there in the 70s.

A group of people who knew each other years before discover that members of the group are being killed off one by one by someone who calls himself (or herself) The Green Ghost. The survivors gather at an old mansion to find out who is doing the killing and why, and discover that the murderer is a member of that very group.

On a film reel electrified by static charges, we meet five people who survived the impact of lightning.

Poe's fiance, Lenore, falls into a coma and is taken for dead. She is rescued at the last possible moment from being buried alive, but the experience has driven her insane. On the advice of his friend, Dr. Forrest, Poe commits Lenore to the asylum run by Dr. Grimaldi. On a visit to the asylum, Poe and Forrest sense that something strange is going on, and decide to sneak back in after dark and investigate.

Jean grew up in a community under the influence of a guru named Chris. Years after escaping its grip, he receives a mysterious package. Chris has just died and Jean's sister who has lived all this time reclusive by his side sends him recordings. In these mysterious sound and visual archives, Jean rediscovers voices and sounds emerging from the past. On the tapes, interviews between members of his family and Chris. The memories start to come back : Jean decides to follow in the footsteps of the missing guru to try and decipher his family history.

The Spectre of Hope is based on the latest work of photographer Sebastiao Salgado. Salgado spent 6 years traveling to over 40 countries, taking pictures of globalization and its consequences - most notably, the mass migrations of populations around the world. In the film, Salgado presents his remarkable photographs in conversation with John Berger.
