Solstice

Clara returns to her grandparents' house to celebrate the festivity of San Juan with her younger brothers. Mireia, the youngest, has been living in the house whilst finishing her studies. Despite the siblings' intention to relive their childhood's summer memories, the trip becomes a wheel of tension and silence when they discover that Mireia is prostituting herself with a neighbor from the village that is much older than her.

This documentary takes place on Solstice-5, a planet whose resources are exploited by the Continental Alliance to build gigantic machines and warships. However, as the Alliance becomes too expensive to run, the operation is deemed unmanageable. Despite bombing attempts to shut down the factories in production, the machines remain unstoppable. The planet's workers, far from home, feel abandoned.

Petr Nikl is a founding member of the Tvrdohlaví (Hard Headed) art group. He is an intermedia artist with classical roots who freely and convincingly expresses himself through traditional art techniques and original books, interactive projects, and improvisational events based on performance, theatre, and music. He won the Jindřich Chalupecký Award in 1995, is a multiple winner of the Best Book Award, and received the Golden Angel Award in the Alternative Music category in 2005. Petr Nikl looks back on his life and his career and gives an imaginary vision of where his path will lead in the future.

Türna, who lives with other chav's in a small village community in Estonia, leaves his pregnant wife Tiina to God. Aapo, who lives in Paide, begins to suspect that he is not a human, but an ant. Beefeater is weighed down by an itchy headgear. Penguin's relationship breaks up when his wife cheats on him with a walrus. He decides to leave his native place. Other penguins follow him. The paths of all of them cross in Türna's home village, on the solstice night.

The Winter Solstice has been for the Chinese an important family occasion; however, will this time-honoured tradition become obsolete? The children head back to their family home in the country to see their elderly mother. All seems well on the surface, but each faces their own crisis and difficulty: The eldest brother struggles to raise several kids; the well off second sister plans to leave Hong Kong; estranged from her husband, the younger sister keeps up appearances; and the youngest brother commits to the difficult career as a farmer. The cheerful, animated conversation at the dinner table is overshadowed by simmering anxieties.

Summer Solstice is a collection of love stories about, and for, people of all different ages and generations. Each character's tale connects, weaving in and out of the others, mirroring and countering them so that, as the long hot summer draws to its close, each is forced to examine their lives and decide to whom their loyalties lie or else risk loosing everything they hold so dear.

a-ha, the multi-platinum selling legendary Norwegian trio, will release a 15 track Acoustic Hits MTV Unplugged album on October 6. This is the first time in the band’s 30 year history that they have recorded an acoustic album. The set list includes a carefully picked selection of trademark hits, tracks not often performed live and two brand new songs, This Is Our Home and A Break In The Clouds. Guests on the album include Alison Moyet, Ian McCulloch, and Lissie. Their Unplugged concert was filmed in Norway, each artist in the series chose a location that held a special meaning to them. a-ha’s MTV Unplugged album will enhance the bands credibility, they are one of a select few artists that have been chosen to appear in the series alongside acts such as Shawn Mendes.
