This is the story of a man who loves both his current lover and his best friend. How can he get through his predicament of loving them both when they are equal in his heart? Who will he sacrifice?

Sally Simpson played to a song rendered by Bette Midler (one of the cast) behind the proscenium curtain. Filmed in San Francisco in collaborated with a friend, Wilfred Satty, who had gained a reputation for illustrations of rock posters. Satty was one of San Francisco's most colorful personalities, a German artist who lived near Bay street, and would throw extravagant parties in the basement of his studio. He died prematurely, cracking his head when he fell off a ladder in his studio. His memorial was held in the rotunda of the Palace of Fine Arts and attended by over 400 mourners.

In 1939 a young Romanian woman met a soldier. Love blossomed, but the man was sent to the front. They continued to write passionate letters to each another, but when she had to move they lost contact. She was never able to forget him. Will they ever meet again?

Everyone's favorite animated family, The Simpsons, gets the laughs rolling in these four party-themed episodes. "Homer's Night Out" finds Bart causing mischief with a CIA spy camera, while in "Homer the Moe," Homer stands in for Moe while he's away. In "Sunday Cruddy Sunday," Homer and his friends find out they've been sold fake tickets to a game, and in "The Mansion Family," Homer house-sits for Mr. Burns.

Any four episodes of The Simpsons chosen at random would make perfectly acceptable entertainment, but The Simpsons Film Festival is a particularly happy selection. In "Beyond Blunderdome", Mel Gibson (playing himself) sends up his tough-guy persona when he hires Homer to produce his latest movie. Then in "A Star is Burns" Springfield hosts its own film festival (with guest critic Jay Sherman in attendance). The competition boils down to Barney's haunting cinema verité short about the horrors of alcohol or Mr Burns grandiose vanity project. "22 Short Films About Springfield" is a series of parodies within a parody featuring Springfield's secondary characters, including Milhouse's dad and Chief Wiggum in a glorious Pulp Fiction sequence. Finally, the show's own internal parody cartoon duo hit the big screen in "The Itchy and Scratchy Movie", while Bart and Homer lock horns about going to see it. They sell Soylent Green in the future cinema foyer; and Homer loves it, of course.

'Homer's Barbershop Quartet' sees Homer recall the days when he was a member of chart-topping singing group The Be Sharps.
