A high school girl who sees little meaning in life is recruited to help souls of the deceased cross into heaven.

Sakamaki dropped out of university and lives nihilistically every day. Every now and then, he receives strange phone calls at his home. The calls, which only mention the name of the place and a description of the caller, such as "Ikebukuro, a woman with long hair", are in fact murder threats. Sakamaki realises this and takes Mabuchi, a friend from his university days whom he met by chance, around to witness the crime, saying he will "show him something interesting". Sakamaki lies to Mabuchi, who blames him when he discovers his true intentions and lies about the impotence of human beings. Sakamaki has an experience from his high school days when a classmate committed suicide in front of him. However, something changes in Sakamaki after Mabuchi risks his life to save him from his own suicide attempt. He believes that the motive for the crime lies in loneliness, so he runs through the crowd to save the killer.

At the bus stop of an animated city, several fragments of everyday stories happening at the same time, become a space for reflection, love, death, and other situations that could resemble a city like any other.

It is here, in Rojava, in three destroyed cities, that three separate stories tell the story of how savage war destroys not only our cities, but our people, too. Sinjar, Kobanî and Jazaa are three towns that display the most destructive impact of modern war. All three are in the process of being rebuilt at the moment. The people who live here have transformed their tragedies into a determination to leave a better Rojava for future generations.

In the made-up country of Alanien, King Alexander I has been overthrown while abroad. Now, he's in Vienna with his daughter, the city of his fondest memories since studying there as a boy. It doesn't take long for the charm of Vienna to work its magic on the former king: he quickly comes to terms with the new situation and is able to enjoy the Austrian capital sans all the ceremony and trappings which would otherwise accompany him on a state visit. The princess is content with preparing herself for a career as a pianist concert, while the former king takes a job as a chauffeur in the embassy of the country he once ruled. The revolutionaries are shocked; and his days in Vienna are numbered.

Young French student Madeleine Duchanel wants to go to the theater and therefore pulls out of the well-protected environment of her school. In Paris she hopes to make a career, but in her naivety she ends up on the street.
