Seasons In The Valley

When Joseph Haydn completed his fourth and final oratorio at the beginning of 1801 the 69-year-old composer was famous throughout Europe. Born in 1732 as the son of a humble wheelwright, Haydn grew up in a rural, peasant environment. That such a child should make his way eventually to the position of court composer was an extremely rare occurrence. Even in his days at royal courts, however, Haydn still felt a close and intimate attachment to Nature and to life in the countryside. When Baron Gottfried van Swieten, then, presented to Hadyn a libretto on the theme of The Seasons, he found in the old composer a worthy partner in his own veneration for Nature.

Akın goes to a deserted village of his childhood by the Black Sea, where his family lives, joined by his lover Elif and a small team, with whom he has been working for years to accomplish his movie. However, Akın finds himself in a big stalemate: On one hand, Elif gradually reveals her suppressed feelings that she has accumulated; on the other, his father on the verge of death although his movie waiting to be shot. The traumas that cannot be overcome in their relationship, the betrayals that cannot be forgotten, dozens of gangrenous problems and the invisible binding of these two restless souls will keep snowballing and throw both of them to unexpected places while filming. Beneath the wreck of their relationship, there exists the film they dedicate their lives to shoot and a dying father.

This film presents a contemporary view on modern Russian upper-class youth. The film genre is a social drama. The main five characters of the movie are financially secured and socially successful - producing, managing and hosting a popular TV show. They are beautiful, happy and satisfied with their lives. They are good friends to each other and the others. The glass world they surrounded themselves by is full of love and smiles... Until one day something happens to the leading character and suddenly they all face the real world. The glass shatters. Their lives are changed forever. They will never be the same

Kerekes (Antal Pager) believes he is wanted by the police when his friends play a practical joke in this unusual comedy drama. He returns to his hometown where he was accused of turning a Jewish druggist and the druggist's wife over to the Nazis. With his friends following him, Kerekes tries to find out what became of the couple after they were deported. After being subjected to a mock trial by his friends -- and found guilty -- Kerekes becomes despondent and attempts to kill himself. Flashbacks and hallucinations are employed to tell this story that occurs during the Eichmann trial. Both the film and Antal Pager gained some unwanted publicity when a Variety article from April 23rd, 1967 accused Pager of being a Nazi collaborator for his role in an anti-Semitic film during World War II.

Época Baixa shows places left behind by tourists during the Off Season in Portugal. We still can sense the colourful days of summers past. The tourists have left their traces. Sometimes we can even hear them, like ghost voices, from the far distance.

Mrs. Blanc is taking a seaside holiday and is courted by no less than three bachelors eagerly vying for her attention. They are blissfully unaware that Mrs Blanc is both a wife and a mother, but they will soon find out.

The time of great festivities, of noble health-resort idyll are long gone. A place torn by modern functional buildings and decaying, once fashionable hotel palaces. In this scenery, Lenz, a masseur, is struggling for his survival, barely keeping a day-to-day routine. He has become estranged from his wife and child. Shot in dark colours and with an atmospheric treatment, the narrative is sketchy but the plot revolves around Koswara, a driver for Kardiman. Koswara’s brothers and sisters-in-law trade his wife, Aisah, to Kardiman, until his wife goes insane and dies. Agus Herman, son of Kardiman, is as brutal as his father and Mrs. Kardiman, also has an impure background. Her daughter, Nana, who is born without knowledge of her biological father, is almost raped by her stepfather, Kardiman. It is also suggested that Mrs. Kardiman desires Koswara. An experiment from Indonesian directing legend, Teguh Karya, that was not entirely successful.

On the day sending her husband to a dementia care home, Hyunjoo decides to kill herself as well as her spouse as she´s aware of her early signs of dementia. Having driven to a quiet forest, Hyunjoo tries to put the plan into practice but her husband never listens to her and Hyunjoo seems unprepared.

The image of an ageless black woman, who is called Oummi Fatma or Myriam or Selma, is engraved forever on the memory of every inhabitant of Zarzis, our small native town located in the south-east of Tunisia. This fantastic matchmaker of all work is indispensable because she is fully in charge of the complex ritual of the wedding ceremony and facilitates the bride and groom's difficult transition to married life. Oummi Fatma is one of the last women of her generation who still goes through this ritual whose secrets she alone knows and which a brutal modernization threatens to end forever.

A couple arrive in an off-season Cesenatico but they quickly split up after a bad argument. The girl then settles in an uninhabited flat with a photographer she met before and with whom she has an affair. His ex gets kidnapped by three amateur robbers. Both stories end with a dramatic and grotesque epilogue.
