Sacrifice

The setting is an island peatbank, far from any habitation. The time is bright early summer. A man and a woman enter this empty landscape to cut peat for winter fuel. Before the sun goes down they will encounter shadows from the distant past and begin to come to terms with the troubling realities of the present.

Raden Ajeng Karina is of mixed-descent, born to a Dutch mother – who has since returned to the Netherlands – and Javanese father. She lives in the palace at Yogyakarta and must integrate herself with the majority Javanese society. In doing so she wears traditional clothes such as the kebaya. She later becomes involved in a love triangle with a foreign representative stationed in the city and his wife.

Majid,a 29 year- old guy, has some problems with his father, Haaj-Nosrat, . Majid finds his father an obstacle against him in his life , and he's looking for revenge, but he's scared to do so. Majid who wants to settle the score decides to kidnap his 10-year-old brother who is the love of his father, and succeeds to do so.

Oli, his young girlfriend, and a scheming colleague are fleeing the Icelandic financial crises with a fortune in forbidden cash stuffed into a duffel bag. They head for Spain in their boat under cover of night. The seas rage and a horrible accident occurs. Marooned on a freezing outcrop of rock, the tension builds as the three violently disagree as they take drastic measures to survive.

Two high school students named Silas and Babs wake up from a party they attended the night before only to find out that the party happened five years ago and every student who attended disappeared. Trapped by unstable characters obsessed with solving the mystery of the party and hunted by unspeakable horrors, Silas and Babs must survive and escape or else share the fate as their fellow classmates.

Merchant Flor Fedulych in love with a young widow Yuliya Pavlovna. But all her thoughts are occupied by the handsome Dulchin. But the wise and prudent merchant builds his intrigue, and soon they will have to combine marriage with the unloved, but the rich.

Broadcast to a large portion of the Danish population in January 1970, Hesteofringen ('Horse Sacrifice') was the ostensible ritual slaughtering and dismemberment of a horse in protest of the ongoing war in Vietnam (the horse was actually very old and put down humanely by a vet).

The Santa Semana, the week before Easter, is a major celebration in Malaga, Spain. Dozens of processions move through the streets with beautiful floats. During this annual ritual, the Cofradía Jesus El Rico y Maria Santissima Del Amor Brotherhood has the right on Holy Wednesday to give one of three prisoners chosen in advance his freedom. In a mountain hamlet in eastern China, a poor woman faces trial after trial. Sold into marriage as a child, she is left a young widow and enslaved by her mother-in-law, who sells her to a poor peasant. Her second marriage turns out to be happy until fate takes away her husband and son. Now seen as a bearer of bad luck, she becomes a social outcast.

Hannes Lombard is a medical doctor who was struck off the roll for substance abuse. He takes refuge on a farm in northern Natal, where his farming efforts are unsuccessful. Buks, his godson is sent to live with him. He’s quite happy to swop city life for a carefree life on the farm with new playmates in a new school. He and Sproetie, the neighbours’ little girl soon become great friends and their laid-back existence becomes even more idyllic when Hannes gives them each a horse. But the serpent sneaks into paradise. Lelik, Buks’s dog startles Sproetie’s horse, who throws her. The fall leaves Sproetie paralysed, and Buks is consumed by selfreproach. But it is old Willem, the farmhand, and his simple wisdom who makes life bearable again for everyone.

The story addresses the conflict between reformist enlightenment and obsolete, inhuman ritual, questioning the contemporary validity of traditional rituals. The dramatic pivot is the conflict between the king who banned animal sacrifice, and the priest who calls for the king's own blood. Emotionally, the film revolves around the childless queen and a beggar girl whose pet goat has been taken for the sacrifice and who loves a servant in the temple.

Before the Battle is the English-language title of this espionage melodrama. The first half of the film takes place aboard a French cruising ship, steaming through dangerous waters during WWI. Among the passengers is heroine Jeanne (Annabella), who was once in love with first-officer D'Artelles (Robert Vidalin) but he now seems strangely preoccupied. It turns out that the ship is on a secret mission, which ultimately dooms the vessel to a Lusitania-like death. After the sinking, Captain De Corlaix (Victor Francen) faces a court-martial, and it is at this point that the film clarifies several baffling plot points. Despite its complexity, the story is fairly believable, with the exception of the grafted-on romantic subplot.
