Rouge

Rouge follows the current coach and four players, who shoulder the weight of the team’s celebrated history as well as the pressures of making future careers for themselves. Older legends tell tales of former victories while also exploring the challenging economic and environmental circumstances of the industrial town.

Freshly hired as a labor nurse in a chemical factory, Nour discovers that small arrangements exist between management and her father, Slimane, the staff representative, and the company's pivot. Lies about polluting discharges, hidden illnesses of employees, hidden accidents ... Nour, little by little, no longer accepts the compromises of his father to preserve the image of the company. She decides to launch the alert.

Rouge was an English-language Action/Adventure television series from Singapore that ran on both Channel 5 and throughout Southeast Asia on MTV Asia in 2004. The show also ran in Australia and the United States. The 13-part series follows a Southeast Asian all-girl rock band who are also high-tech special operatives working for a global crime-fighting organization, as they take on a counter-espionage network known as "The Brotherhood."

Rouge pushes us into the horrific depths of a cosmetic factory as it manufactures the facade of commercialized beauty. Through the use of miniatures and mixed media techniques, this film voyeuristically plays with the audience’s perspective to showcase the beauty industry’s exploitation of humanity and the environment.

In this drama, the harsh treatment of women in Chinese society is examined and subtly commented upon as it tells the tale of an impoverished woman living in Shanghai, circa 1910 who tries to support her brother and sister-in-law. A marriage to a wealthy man is arranged for her, and reluctantly she endures it, even though she does not love the man who is as cruel as he is wealthy. His mother is also brutally unkind to her. She then has a son, but her struggles are not over when her husband dies and only leaves her a modest inheritance. Her wretched life has made her bitter, and so she begins making her son suffer as she die; she also becomes addicted to opium.
