Legendary reggae group Steel Pulse appeared on the German television program Rockpalast on December 12, 1979. The band had formed just four years earlier in Birmingham, England by guitarists David Hinds and Basil Gabbidon after hearing Bob Marley And The Wailers’ 1973 album, Catch a Fire. But the group was often barred from venues in Birmingham because of their Rastafarian beliefs, so they found a home with another group of outcasts-- the punk rockers.

Filmed at the Arena di Verona in Verona, Italy on September 26th, 2010, Taking The Pulse is the 2nd of a pair of concert films directed by Gabriel's daughter Ana and Andrew Gaston. This concert film takes footage from the second set of that show, where Gabriel does a section of his own songs backed up by a symphony orchestra conducted by Ben Foster (Doctor Who, BBC Proms). Joan Nestle is the founder of the Lesbian Herstory Archives in New York City. This documentary traces her life; finding her community in Greenwich Village in the 1950s, celebrating the body in her writings and in her public readings in her black slip, having a lesbian archives in her home for 25 years, participating in the Black civil rights movement as a freedom rider, becoming a feminist, and helping to forge a new queer consciousness through grass roots organizing. This 2002 documentary features interviews with Joan in her sixties, as she continues to celebrate the body as an aging woman and as a woman with cancer.

Lisetta, the daughter of a fisherman, lives with her father and brother on the island of Capri. When Serrani, an Italian who has grown wealthy in New York, visits the island, he induces Lisetta to accompany him to America. There he abandons her and she becomes a dancer in an underworld café owned by "Dago" Joe, where she meets the artist Stanford Graham, who employs her as a model. Meanwhile, Lisetta's brother Domenic comes to New York to avenge his sister's dishonor.

"Door of No Return", while being a track from the successful "African Holocaust" album, is also the title of an in-depth documentary about the hugely successful British Reggae band. On June 12, 2016, Pulse nightclub’s weekly “Latin Night” was in full swing on South Orange Avenue. Just over 300 patrons were dancing and laughing as last call rolled around 2AM. Moments later a terrorist attack shattered the seemingly “safe space” of one of Orlando’s beloved gay bars. When the madness subsided, 49 beautiful souls were lost, dozens more injured, and a community of thousands was left broken. But what has happened since that night to the survivors—the ones who lost friends and lovers, who are bonded together by an unthinkable act of violence? This powerful and amazingly hopeful testament gathers together many of the people who hunkered down in bathroom stalls and behind the bar and allows them a space to share the details of that night and the ongoing effects of living through a “national tragedy” from an incredibly intimate perspective.
