Painted Skin is a Chinese television series adapted from the 2008 film of the same title, which is loosely based on a classic short story in Pu Songling's Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio. It was first broadcast on TVS4 on March 3, 2011 in mainland China.

The series is about the struggle between two opposing schools of thought. Hua Xin Shi are those that collect the pure sentiments of people after they learn to let go of their obsession. Yang Xin Shi are those who collect the impure thoughts of people consumed by their own insecurities.

Three characters living in an unfinished painting venture out into the real world in search of their creator to convince him to finish his work.
