A documentary about people with mental disabilities who work in a protected workshop in Tiana, (Barcelona). Far from offering a conventional journalistic treatment, this documentary, with love and a good dose of humor, delves into their lives and their dreams.

Time rushes by us. It rushes like the clouds in the sky that are swept and left drifting by the wind. As it passes we live and feel its passage. A brief reflection about time and life seen through two moments of our mother’s lives.

The film is liberally inspired by the period when Eça de Queiroz was Portuguese Consul in Cuba, when still a Spanish colony. Eça de Queiroz struggles against local authorities in his defense of Chinese workers, brought to the sugar plantations by greedy middlemen and exploited as slaves. Two parallel stories unfold, that of a Chinese girl which Eça de Queiroz saves from the clutches of one of the island’s most powerful slave owners, and the other of a romance involving a young American woman on holidays in Havana.

Narration over the scenes of work consist of sentences written by the children in school exercise spoken in Spanish and repeated in French.
