What begins as a documentary about spirit boards turns out to be a terrifying ghost adventure for a local Louisiana documentary film crew.

Recorded for a television program of the same name back in 1983, In Session bills itself as the only known recording of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King, who was Vaughan's idol and mentor, playing together. That leads to some heavy expectations, which fortunately aren't disappointed, at least if you aren't expecting the customary over-the-top performances Vaughan was famous for. His playing here is much more laid-back and controlled, which is actually a recommendation--the stylistic similarities between teacher and student are that much more pronounced. The songs are mostly King concert staples, with the exception of "Pride and Joy"; highlights include the T-Bone Walker classic "Call It Stormy Monday" and one of King's own, "Overall Junction," which features some excellent guitar solo work. The snippets of recorded conversation between songs are interesting curiosities as well. --Genevieve Williams

If you've ever listened to pop music from the 1960s and early 1970s, you've heard the (probably uncredited) work of The Wrecking Crew. The Wrecking Crew were a group of in-demand Los Angeles studio musicians who played on hundreds of iconic hits, including the Beach Boys' "Help Me, Rhonda" and The Mamas and The Papas' "California Dreamin'." Many different musicians played as part of the loosely organized Wrecking Crew, but there were three mainstays: drummer Hal Blaine, guitarist Tommy Tedesco, and guitarist and bassist Carol Kaye. Kaye was one of the few females working session musicians of the era. According to Vulture, both The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson and super producer Quincy Jones have referred to her as the greatest bassist in the world.

According to the bbc.co.uk/music album review, it's 'a fine example of a contemporary artist taking great delight in collaborating with crack musicians and mining his country's songwriting past.' It was launched on aux.tv, a Canadian music website, and BiteTV, a digital cable channel, in late 2008 and currently airs on both. The show aims to profile new and emerging artists in alternative rock, hip hop, indie rock, alternative country and other genres.
