NJPW announced the full card for the final World Tag League event on December 9. The main event will feature IWGP Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destiny vs. EVIL and SANADA to determine the winner of this year's World Tag League. Hirooki Goto will defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Kota Ibushi, while Taichi will take on Will Ospreay to determine the number one contender for whoever wins between Goto and Ibushi.

At Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall, Tomohiro Ishii lost a tag team match to Minoru Suzuki. After the match Suzuki and Ishii brawled because of this not only was a tag team title match was made but another match where Ishii will defend the RPW British Heavyweight Championship against Suzuki. At Sakura Genesis, Kazuchika Okada defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. At Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall Sabre Jr. defeated the Chaos team of Ishii and Yano in a tag match. Because of this victory a Sakura Genesis rematch was made for the show between Okada and Sabre Jr. Jay White was originally announced as going up against Chris Brookes, but as Brookes fell ill, he was replaced with Kyle Fletcher.

Back to the Yokohama Arena is a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The event is scheduled to take place on May 25, 2014, at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Kanagawa and marks NJPW's first event at the arena in eleven years. The event, which is considered one of NJPW's biggest of the year, following Wrestle Kingdom 8 in Tokyo Dome and the finals of the G1 Climax, will feature four championship matches and will be headlined by a match for the promotion's top title, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Wrestling Dontaku 2016 is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The event is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2016, in Fukuoka, Fukuoka at Fukuoka Kokusai Center and will feature ten matches, five of which will be contested for championships. The show will be headlined by Tetsuya Naito making his first defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii. It will be the thirteenth event under the Wrestling Dontaku name.

The New Beginning in Hiroshima took place on February 9, 2014, in Hiroshima, Hiroshima at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall. The event featured ten matches, three of which were contested for championships. Several matches also built to matches taking place at the following event two days later. The event also featured the NJPW debuts of National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) representatives Michael Tarver and Big Daddy Yum-Yum, who unsuccessfully challenged Satoshi Kojima for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the first title match of the event. The two other title matches were rematches from January 4's Wrestle Kingdom 8 in Tokyo Dome event; in the first Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson made their first successful defense of the IWGP Tag Team Championship against K.E.S. and in the main event Hiroshi Tanahashi made his first successful defense of the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Fantasticamania 2014 was a series of five professional wrestling events co-produced by Japanese promotion New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and Mexican promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) taking place between January 15 and 19, 2014. 2014 was the fourth year in which NJPW and CMLL come together to produce Fantasticamania events, but the first time they held five events in one year, compared to two events in 2011 and 2012 and three in 2013. 2014 also marked the first time Fantasticamania events were held outside of Tokyo's Korakuen Hall, with the January 14 taking place in Osaka, Osaka at the Bodymaker Colosseum, the January 15 event in Kyoto, Kyoto at the KBS Hall and the January 17 event in Tokyo's Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, while the January 18 and 19 events were still held in Korakuen Hall. 2014 marked the first time some of the Fantasticamania events were broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV).

The event was originally planned to take place on June 6, but was postponed to the following day due to the state of emergency in Japan because of the COVID-19 pandemic, although the name of the event was not changed. In the main event, Shingo Takagi fought Kazuchika Okada for the vacant IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. In other prominent matches, Jeff Cobb battled Kota Ibushi, and Yoh challenged El Desperado for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
