A doctor marries his patient without his parents' approval. His parents trick him into marrying a girl of their choice. Meanwhile, his first wife gives birth to a baby girl and waits for his return.

A pastoral village that lies on a borderland. Its current residents speak about their dreams, and from these recollections emerge their own personal loss. Their dreams also overlap with those of the director, who has learned of his grandfather’s unknown past.

This film is based upon the form of an individual’s diary. Jangwook created new images using several chemical treatments on the film surface while using footage of his daily life. These serial works begun from trials that Lee had communicated, seeking to re-construct his own memories, where the ‘mind’s eye’ become connected with the ‘camera’s eye’ and with film itself. In doing so the film is a conversation with personal documentary and everyday practice at the darkroom.

This film does not carry a story that would encourage them to unfold it with a beginning, a plot and a dénouement. The house was no longer inhabited. There now exists an address in the world, an address of the house itself. It can live without a form of life.

The film arose from an encounter with Mario Botta during the 2013 Architecture and Memory exhibit held at the Charlotte, North Carolina Bechtler Museum of Modern Art which was designed by the architect. The film is a dialogue on the themes which characterize Mario Botta’s vision and practice: his relationship with history and the territory, the designing of collective spaces, encounters with the leading protagonists of the 20th century. The interview, conducted in Mario Botta’s studio in Mendrisio, is replete with photographic materials, designs and sketches which document his “spaces of memory”.
