In this film, people facing death or lives of extreme privation share their warmest memories and describe the good deeds they’ve done while living under the most difficult of circumstances imaginable. This intimate portrait offers a window, through their words only, into the inner lives of men and women living in maximum-security penitentiaries across the United States, most of whom are incarcerated on Death Row.

Tulsa, Oklahoma is renowned as "the oil capitol of the world" - once home to the most prosperous black community in the United States known as "Black Wall Street." In 1921, after members of the KKK had effectively taken control of the city, Black Wall Street was destroyed in a massacre known as "The Tulsa Race Riot." Black Wall Street, formerly known as the Greenwood District was then renamed the Brady District for Tulsa's Ku Klux Klan-affiliated Mayor. Ever since, the area has known extensive, community-wide victimization by racist members of the Tulsa law enforcement community. In April 2015, a Reserve Deputy killed Eric Harris, an unarmed suspect, as he ran from members of the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

Trying to freeze time is an illusion. Whatever we do, life unfolds in one direction. Memory is a Dying Horse is yet another desperate attempt to challenge the irreversibility of time. A sparse, raw, somehow childish collage of reminiscences filmed on Super 8 between Syria, France and Canada. The film is accompanied with musical experimentation by Stefan Christoff.
