Marcel Streaming

The film tells the early life story of Marcel Reich-Ranicki, who was born in Wloclawek, Poland in 1920. During the Third Reich, the family was in great danger. Nevertheless, he returned to Germany with his wife.

Marcel Duchamp alternates between scrutinizing the camera, and smiling and nodding in response to what seems to be a large crowd of off-screen admirers trying to get his attention. Occasionally he puts his fingers to his lips, indicating that he is not supposed to talk.

Silence Sea and Marcel Duchamp was created from found 16mm footage of Marcel Duchamp and his wife Teeny playing a game of chess. He is pretending that he is winning but he is losing.

A couple working at Lip: she is a semi-skilled worker, he is head of production line. They discuss the problems regarding the women's situation, their working conditions, and internal democracy within the union. Charles Piaget gives his point of view, at a screening organised at the factory, about what Jacqueline and Marcel have said.
