Le Vent Des Sables

A politically oriented film in which images suggestive of a mock western are accompanied by an attack on all cinematic conventions to date and a debate on the nature and possibility of revolutionary cinema.

Alain, a famous actor, agrees to play the impossible role of Jacques Brel. Realising that it might be the last role of his life, he decides to leave the set in the middle of a scene to see Lou, his daughter, whom he has not seen grow up. Against all expectations, Lou gradually enters into his fictional universe.

A 1978 French documentary film directed by Albert Lamorisse about the landscape of Iran. Lamorisse was killed in a helicopter crash while filming the documentary, during a helicopter-tour of Iran. His widow completed the film, based on his production notes, and released the film eight years later in 1978.

During their conversation, Marie sees straight through Sophie and reveals things to her that lead Sophie to deeply question her relationship with Vincent, her lover. After this Christmas Eve, nothing will ever be like it was before.

Le Vent des Aurès – the first road movie of Algerian cinema – describes the transformations of the daily life of the Algerian people during the destructive French occupation, then during the war of liberation. While military repression is in full swing, a peasant woman finds herself alone in her mountain home when her only son is kidnapped by French soldiers shortly after her husband's death during a raid. One day, seeing a dead chicken, which she considers a bad omen, she decides to leave home and embarks on a painful journey through the mountains. Accompanied by a couple of chickens, she moves from one detention camp to another in a desperate search for her missing son. The film is inspired by the events experienced by the director's family.
