An apple contemplates its own existence, right before life places a new challenge for it.

Interspersed with jokes, visual puns, and philosophical discussions, the story follows the attempts of a girl who has spent the last year living outside her native Switzerland to rekindle a former love affair. When her immature young friend fails to demonstrate the requisite interest, she takes up with someone the boy disapproves of. When the boy kicks the man, the man leaves both the boy and his erstwhile ex-girlfriend to their own devices.

Vanessa Pilon recently settled into the core of a magnificent Rougemont orchard with her small family. In this series, she renovates a mobile home adjacent to her property. What’s Vanessa up to? She’s making a new home for her father, Michel Pilon, a major Quebec crooner from the 1970s. Prix et Profits is a 20-minute short film originally made for educational purposes and released in 9.5mm format. As the title suggests, the film follows the supply chain of a potato, from farmers to consumers, and examines the mechanisms of capitalism.
